On March 19, 2024, the Supreme Court had said in its order that the Ajit Pawar faction had asked to write a disclaimer along with its election symbol that the dispute related to this election symbol is pending in the court and this party has no connection with Sharad Pawar.
The Supreme Court today sought response from Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and others on a petition filed by the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) faction led by senior leader Sharad Pawar over the use of clock election symbol. The next hearing in this case will be on November 6 (Wednesday). A three-judge bench headed by Justice Surya Kant has issued notice to the Deputy Chief Minister and others seeking their response on the petition.
The apex court directed Ajit Pawar to file a fresh affidavit on its directions given on March 19 and April 24, stating that NCP’s clock election symbol is under consideration in the court and also during the process of state assembly elections. This is being followed carefully. The court has asked Ajit Pawar group to file an affidavit. At present, the election symbol of the clock will remain with the Ajit Pawar faction and they will use the election symbol of the clock with a disclaimer. The Supreme Court did not accept the demand of Sharad Pawar faction to withdraw the election symbol of clock from Ajit Pawar faction. The apex court is hearing a petition by the Sharad Pawar-led camp claiming that the court order is not being followed by the Ajit Pawar group.
