A young man allegedly raped a minor girl in Narhi police station area of Ballia district. A senior police officer said on Sunday that a case has been registered and the accused has been taken into custody. According to the police, a 16-year-old girl (class 9 student) resident of a village in Narhi police station area had gone to school to study on Saturday.
Police said that during this time, her acquaintance Arvind Rawat (21), resident of Chitbargaon police station area, took her from school to a hotel on the pretext of taking her for a ride and allegedly raped her.
The victim informed her mother about this. Superintendent of Police (SP) Vikrant Veer said that on the complaint of the girl’s mother, a case of rape was registered against Arvind under the Indian Justice Code (BNS) on Saturday night.
Police said that a case has also been registered against the accused under the relevant section of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. According to the SP, the accused youth has been taken into custody and further legal action is being taken against him. As soon as information about the incident was received, SP Veer along with the forensic team inspected and inspected the incident site.
