Thane Police in Maharashtra has launched a mobile resting van for women personnel to provide them with necessary facilities during long duty hours and to provide a convenient space for mothers to breastfeed.

An official gave this information on Thursday. Police spokesperson said that this van service launched on Tuesday will have a woman police driver and a woman constable. In this, priority will be given to safety and operational efficiency.

It has a sofa-cum-bed, a toilet, bathroom, two wash basins and two changing rooms. The official said that if this facility proves effective and useful, there are plans to deploy one such van in each of the five police zones of Thane.
