Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat described the Kolkata rape-murder as shameful and said an attempt was made to protect the criminals. He said that the nexus of crime, politics and toxic culture is ruining the society. Protests have erupted across the country demanding justice for a female doctor who was allegedly raped and murdered at RG Kar Hospital in August.
Mohan Bhagwat said that in multi-party democracy, petty interests have become more important than mutual harmony, pride and integrity of the nation. He said that these key aspects are considered secondary in the competition between parties. Efforts to create division in the society have become bigger than the national interest. Their modus operandi, he said, is to stand in support of a party and pursue their destructive agenda in the name of “alternative politics”. Bhagwat described the Kolkata rape-murder as shameful and said that an attempt was made to save the criminals. He said that the nexus of crime, politics and toxic culture is ruining the society.
He was addressing the annual Vijaya Dashami rally of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in Nagpur. He said, “Everyone feels that India has become stronger in the last few years and its credibility in the world has also increased. Any country becomes great by the national character of the people. This year is important as we step into the centenary year of the Sangh. Bhagwat said that apart from hopes and aspirations, challenges and problems also exist in India. The Sangh chief said, “We should take inspiration from Ahilyabai Holkar, Dayanand Saraswati, Birsa Munda and many such personalities who dedicated their lives to the welfare of the country, religion, culture and society.”
