Kolkata: There is a possibility of severe cyclonic storm Dana hitting the coast of Odisha and West Bengal. An alert has also been issued regarding this. It is feared that Cyclonic Storm Dana may hit the coasts of Odisha-West Bengal on October 25. In view of the fear of cyclonic storm Dana, more than 150 express and passenger trains passing through the South Eastern Railway (SER) area have been cancelled. An official of South-Eastern Railway has informed about the cancellation of trains.
These trains were canceled
South-East Railway official said that the canceled trains include Howrah-Secunderabad Falaknuma Express, Kamakhya-Yesvantpur AC Express, Howrah-Puri Shatabdi Express, Howrah-Bhubaneswar Shatabdi Express and Howrah-Yesvantpur Express. The SER official said the canceled trains were scheduled to depart from their originating stations from October 23 to 25. If necessary, more trains passing through the south-east region can be cancelled. Let us tell you that West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand etc. are included in the Kolkata headquartered SER region.

Meteorological Department gave information
According to the Meteorological Department’s office, the depression over the east-central Bay of Bengal can turn into a severe cyclonic storm. This cyclonic storm can cross Odisha-West Bengal coasts on October 25 with a speed of 100-110 kmph to 120 kmph. A senior official said that due to the fear of cyclonic storm, Kolkata Airport officials have started preparations to deal with any situation even before October 25. He informed that standard operating procedures like inspection of airport infrastructure and drainage system and all other servicing are being checked. (input- agency)
