MP: Pregnant tribal woman forced to clean blood stains from hospital bed

A case of a pregnant tribal woman being allegedly forced to clean blood stains on the bed of a government hospital in Dindori, Madhya Pradesh has come to light. There were stains of her husband’s blood on the bed.

Officials gave this information on Saturday. He said that Raghuraj Maravi (28) was attacked by relatives over a land dispute and he was brought to the Government Primary Health Center in an injured condition on Thursday night.

“He died later,” an officer said. His wife Roshni Bai, who is five months pregnant, had to wash blood stains off the bed on which she was admitted. This incident happened on Saturday. We have suspended nursing officers Rakumari Markam and Chhoti Bai Thakur and transferred medical officer Dr Chandrashekhar Singh.

He said that Raghuraj’s brother Shivraj Maravi (40) and father Dharam Singh Maravi (65) died in the attack, while the other brother Ramraj has been admitted to the hospital in a critical condition. According to the police, the attack was carried out due to a dispute over harvesting of crops on a land in Lalpur village, about 50 km from the district headquarters.
