Bengaluru: Taking a big decision today, the Karnataka government has withdrawn the consent given to the CBI for investigation in the state. This means that now if the CBI wants to conduct any investigation in Karnataka, it will have to first take the consent of the state government and then proceed with the investigation process.
Today the Karnataka cabinet took this decision. After this decision, the CBI cannot investigate in Karnataka without the permission of the state government. Speaking to the media after this cabinet decision, Law Minister HK Patil said that we are withdrawing open consent for CBI investigation in the state. Also, we are concerned about the misuse of CBI.
The Home Minister clarified that this decision has not been taken because of MUDA. It is worth noting that after the court order in the MUDA case, CM Siddaramaiah is facing Lokayukta police investigation. Opposition parties BJP and JDS as well as the petitioners who went to court against Siddaramaiah say that if Siddaramaiah remains on the CM post, the investigation may be affected, in such a situation, this case should be investigated by the CBI.
The intention behind stopping the CBI from entering the state without permission is clear. Siddaramaiah is afraid that if the CBI investigates, his arrest cannot be ruled out. In such a situation, the CM has taken this decision to avoid the CBI investigation.
