On reaching his home district Keonjhar on Friday, Chief Minister Majhi said, ‘The state government has already ordered a Crime Branch inquiry into the incident. The accused policemen have been suspended in this case. A case has also been registered against them.’

The Chief Minister said that his government will not hesitate to take strict action against the culprits involved in this case. CM Majhi said, ‘The government is taking all necessary steps in this matter. There should be no worry about it. The government is fully aware of the incident and strict action will be taken in the case.’

The Chief Minister’s statement on the incident that happened with the army jawan and his fiancée in the police station came just hours after the opposition leader and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president Naveen Patnaik demanded a court-monitored Special Investigation Team (SIT) and a judicial inquiry into the incident. At the same time, the National Commission for Women (NWC) has taken suo motu cognizance of the incident and sought an action report from the Director General of Police.
