At least five people, including three women, were killed and four others seriously injured in a clash between two groups of nomadic people in Odisha’s Sundergarh district. Police gave this information on Wednesday.
Police said that this incident took place late on Tuesday night in Karmadihi village under Sadar police station area due to suspicious extramarital affair. A senior police officer said that the rival group killed five people.
Western Range Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Brijesh Ray said the four injured people were being treated at Sundergarh District Headquarters Hospital. According to initial reports, some people from the rival group entered the village carrying sharp weapons and attacked members of the other group.
Officials said the matter is being investigated and two police teams have been formed to nab the culprits. He said that senior police officers, forensic team and ‘dog squad’ are at the spot.
