Three people were seriously injured when a stack of firecrackers caught fire and exploded in Odisha’s coastal city of Puri on Thursday. Police gave this information.
Police said that the incident took place in Batagaon in the evening when a person named Sanjay Jena had gone to the shop of Baula Raut to buy firecrackers. It reported that a firecracker lit by Jena accidentally fell on other firecrackers, leading to an explosion.
Police said that apart from Sanjay and Raut, a woman named Lipa Raut standing near them was also seriously injured. Police said he was first taken to Puri District Headquarters Hospital and later sent to SCB Medical College Hospital, Cuttack for better treatment. Officials said that the condition of three injured remains critical.
