The winter session of Parliament has started from today. However, the beginning was noisy. Today, the opposition created a huge ruckus in both the houses, after which both the houses had to be adjourned. The winter session of Parliament will run from 25 November to 20 December. This session can be very important. It is being told that a list of 16 bills including the Waqf Amendment Bill has been prepared for consideration in the session. At the same time, efforts will be made to pass many important bills during this session. No proceedings will be held in both the Houses on Tuesday because it is Constitution Day and a special event is being organized on it.

Encouraged by the massive victory of ‘Mahayuti’ in Maharashtra, members of the ruling party greeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi by raising slogans of ‘Modi-Modi’ when he arrived in the Lok Sabha on Monday. When Prime Minister Modi arrived before the start of the House meeting on the first day of the winter session of Parliament, members of the ruling party including Union ministers stood at their places and raised slogans of ‘Modi-Modi’. Some members of the ruling party also raised slogans of ‘Jai Bhavani’.
Narendra Modi on Monday hit out at the opposition, saying that those who have been rejected by the people 80-90 times are trying to control Parliament by resorting to ‘hustling’ for their political interests. Before the start of the winter session of Parliament, the Prime Minister also called upon all political parties to participate in a healthy discussion during the session and expressed hope that it would be fruitful. Modi said that a handful of such people could not succeed in their intentions and the people of the country saw their actions and punished them at the appropriate time.
Rajya Sabha proceedings were adjourned for the day on Monday after a single adjournment due to uproar by opposition members demanding discussion on the issue of bribery allegations by US prosecutors against Adani Group. When the Rajya Sabha meeting began on the first day of the winter session of Parliament, the House paid tribute to the deceased members. After this, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar told that he has received a total of 13 notices under Rule 267.

On Monday, the first day of Parliament’s winter session, the Lok Sabha meeting was adjourned for the day within a minute of resuming after a single adjournment and no legislative business, including Question Hour, was transacted. At the commencement of the meeting of the Lower House, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla informed the House about the demise of current Lok Sabha members Vasant Rao Chavan and Nurul Islam and former members MM Lawrence, M Parvati and Harish Chandra Devarao Chavan. The House observed silence for a few moments and paid tribute to the deceased MPs and former members. After this, some opposition members were heard trying to raise the issue of an industrialist and the violence that took place in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh on Sunday. Amidst the uproar, Birla adjourned the proceedings of the House till 12 noon at around 11.05 am. Postponed.
