Parliament Winter Session: Winter session of Parliament will run from 25 November to 20 December, Kiren Rijiju gave information
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday (November 5) announced the date of commencement of the winter session of Parliament. On Twitter, he said that the winter session of Parliament will begin from November 25 and continue till December 20, 2024. In his ex-post he wrote that the Honorable President has approved the proposal to convene both Houses of Parliament for the Winter Session, 2024, from 25 November to 20 December, 2024, on the recommendation of the Government of India. The event will be celebrated in the Central Hall of the Constitution House on the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution on November 26, 2024 (Constitution Day).

Interestingly, both the ruling NDA and the opposition alliance are trying to project themselves as protectors of the Constitution. Both BJP and Congress leave no stone unturned in calling each other the enemy of the Constitution. In this Lok Sabha election, the opposition tried to spread the word that if the Modi government comes to power again, the Constitution will be in danger. At the same time, in July this year, the Modi government announced to celebrate June 25 as Constitution Killing Day, so that the dark days of Emergency could be remembered.

In this background, the discussion in the upcoming Parliament session and special session is likely to be very important this time. It is noteworthy that during the winter session, there will be vigorous discussion on the alleged ‘One Nation, One Election’ proposal and the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024. Earlier, Home Minister Amit Shah, speaking on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, said that the bill will be passed during the winter session of Parliament. Speaking at an election rally in Gurgaon’s Badshahpur area, Shah remarked, “The Waqf Board law… we will fix it in the next session of Parliament.”
