The politics regarding the Chief Minister’s residence in Delhi seems to be coming to an end. Today the Public Works Department (PWD) has officially allotted Civil Lines residence at 6, Flagstaff Road to Delhi Chief Minister Atishi. An official order of Deputy Secretary (Allotments), PWD said that the Director of Allotments, PWD, is pleased to offer the following PWD General Pool Bungalows to Ms. Atishi, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of NCT Delhi.

The letter further said that while the Chief Minister will have to submit the approval for the bungalow within eight days of the issue of the notification, Atishi will have to vacate the residence in which she is currently living within 15 days of taking possession of the official residence. Earlier on Friday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) shared photographs in which Atishi is seen signing files surrounded by boxes packed with her belongings at her Kalkaji residence. A day earlier, the party had claimed that they were “forced to vacate” their 6, Flag Staff Road bungalow in the national capital.
what was the dispute
Kejriwal had vacated the Chief Minister’s residence on October 4. Atishi had shifted to this residence on October 7. But on October 8, Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijendra Gupta made a big allegation. He claimed that the Public Works Department had written a letter to the Special Secretary of the Chief Minister’s Office on October 6 requesting him to hand over the keys. He clearly said that this means that Kejriwal had not vacated his residence.

After this comes 9th October. The pyrotechnic material is taken out of the house and sealed completely. In such a situation, the question is why was Chief Minister Atishi’s house sealed after taking out his belongings? Actually, it is alleged that this bungalow was not duly handed over to the PWD department. Not only this, even before that the belongings of Chief Minister Atishi were delivered to this bungalow. It is being alleged that after Kejriwal vacated the bungalow, it was not even allotted to Atishi. PWD has the right to decide to whom to allot the house.
