To start her parliamentary innings, the Chief Minister of Kerala has made a big allegation against Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who is contesting the Lok Sabha by-election from Wayanad, Kerala, saying that she is contesting the elections with the support of Jamaat-e-Islami. Kerala Chief Minister and senior leader of Marxist Communist Party Pinarayi Vijayan has launched a scathing attack on the Congress, alleging that the Wayanad by-election has “completely exposed the secular mask of the Congress Party”. In the post, Vijayan has said that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is in the fray as a candidate with the help of Jamaat-e-Islami. He has asked what is the stand of Congress in this matter? Vijayan has said that our country is not unaware of Jamaat-e-Islami. Does the ideology of this organization match democratic values? Vijayan has alleged that this organization does not respect the country or its democracy and disregards the country’s governance structure.
Countering Vijayan’s allegation, senior Congress leader and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has said that Congress believes in working with every section of the society. He said that the Chief Minister of Kerala is afraid of massive defeat in this election, that is why he is saying such things.

By the way, the question arises here that is this Jamaat-e-Islami organization? Let us tell you that the prominent Islamic preacher of the twentieth century, Abul Ala Maududi, belonged to fundamentalist ideology. Abul Ala Maududi, who promoted Jihadi ideology, used to call for genocide of non-Muslims everywhere in the world. Influenced by the ideology of Abul Ala Maududi, organizations like Indian Mujahideen, JKLF, Hurriyat, Raza Academy, SIMI and the Popular Front of India etc. were also formed. Abul Ala Maududi (1903-1979) went to Pakistan after the partition of India. It was he who founded a major Muslim religious organization named Jamaat-e-Islami.
As far as the secular mask of Congress is concerned, let us tell you that it keeps falling off from time to time. Congress only talks about secularism but from time to time it did not delay in joining hands with communal forces for power. See the dual character of the Congress Party that on one hand it compromises with fundamentalist Muslim parties to get Muslim votes in the South and North-East and on the other hand it wants to promote its Hindu identity in the North and West. In Maharashtra, Congress had no hesitation in partnering with Shiv Sena, which had ideas contrary to its ideology, just for the sake of power. In its desperation to gain power, Congress did not delay even a moment in forming an alliance with ISF, AIUDF and Welfare Party and giving them the title of being a secular party, but when the alliance with these parties was of no use, then it decided to get rid of them. He was immediately given the title of an agent of BJP or a party working at the behest of BJP.
However, the Congress leadership, showing cleverness, got the alliance done with these parties through the state unit and the state unit also announced its withdrawal. In this way, the first family of Congress tried to show that they had nothing to do with all this, but in a party where the central leadership also releases the list of party district presidents of any state, no state unit has any alliance with any party in the elections. It is impossible to do it on your own.
Let us also remind you that in July 2018, an Urdu daily Inquilab had claimed that Rahul Gandhi, in a conversation with that newspaper, had called Congress a party of Muslims. There was a lot of controversy on this. The question is that Rahul Gandhi may have said this but is Congress really a party of Muslims? Does Congress have the slightest concern about Muslims? Congress, which has always used Muslims as vote bank, did not allow the political and economic salvation of this community, so how did it become a party of Muslims? Congress leader and former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh may have said from the ramparts of the Red Fort that minorities have the first right on the natural resources of the country, but leave alone the first right, they were not even given their due rights. To know what Congress has done for Muslims since independence, instead of paying attention to any leader’s statement, just look at the Sachar Committee report, everything will become clear.
