President Draupadi Murmu on Tuesday condoled the demise of renowned folk singer Sharda Sinha and said that her melodious singing will remain immortal. Sinha died at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here on Tuesday night at the age of 72. She was admitted in AIIMS for some time.
Murmu wrote on ‘X’, “The news of the demise of singer Dr. Sharda Sinha, famous as Bihar Kokila, is extremely sad. Sharda Sinha ji gained immense popularity in the music world by giving her melodious voice to Bihari folk songs in Maithili and Bhojpuri.”
He wrote, “Today, on the day of Chhath Puja, his melodious songs will be creating a supernatural atmosphere of devotion in the country and abroad. He was also awarded the Padma Bhushan in the field of arts in the year 2018. His melodious singing will remain immortal. I express my deepest condolences to his family and fans.
