Punjab: Explosion in a compartment of Howrah Mail, four people injured

Officials said that the incident occurred around 10.30 pm on Saturday night, when a plastic bucket filled with firecrackers exploded in a compartment of the train going from Amritsar to Howrah. Four passengers including a woman were injured in this incident.

Four people were injured in a blast in a general class compartment of Howrah Mail near Sirhind railway station in Fatehgarh district of Punjab. Government Railway Police (GRP) officials gave this information on Sunday.

Officials said that the incident occurred around 10.30 pm on Saturday night, when a plastic bucket filled with firecrackers exploded in a compartment of the train going from Amritsar to Howrah. Four passengers including a woman were injured in this incident.

GRP Deputy Superintendent of Police Jagmohan Singh said that the injured were taken to the government hospital of Fatehgarh Sahib. He said preliminary investigation revealed that the blast took place in a plastic bucket in the general class compartment of the train, in which some firecrackers were kept. Singh said that investigation into the incident is ongoing.
