Union Health Minister and BJP President JP Nadda has slammed the Punjab government for mismanaging Ayushman Bharat in Punjab. The Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association (PHANA) in Punjab has announced a ban on cashless treatment under the government’s health insurance schemes, including the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY). The decision has been taken in response to the state government’s outstanding debt of Rs 600 crore.
JP Nadda gave a strong response
PHANA said that private healthcare facilities across Punjab will participate in these schemes only after the state government clears the dues. Union Health Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president JP Nadda has reacted strongly on the issue.
People are not getting free treatment due to mismanagement- Nadda
Health Minister JP Nadda said, ‘The concept of Ayushman Bharat was created to provide assured medical cover to economically backward families. Today, people are not getting access to free healthcare due to the mismanagement of the state government under the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab.
Why were the hospital dues not paid?
Questioning Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, Nadda said, ‘Why did Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s government not pay the dues of private hospitals? Before the elections, he had promised to build more clinics and health centres, but today his government cannot work in the interest of the poor.’
Punjab government is in financial crisis
Along with this, Nadda said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab is in serious financial crisis since 2023, as the state’s debt is increasing and revenue is decreasing with the rising cost of subsidy.
Punjab government should pay the dues soon
Union Health Minister Nadda has urged CM Mann to clear the dues of hospitals as soon as possible. Nadda said that many families, especially hardworking farmers, are benefiting under the Ayushman Bharat program. Instead of hailing the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi, Chief Minister Mann should focus on the worsening situation in Punjab.
