Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) President Lalu Prasad Yadav has strongly supported Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s demand for the immediate arrest of corruption accused industrialist Gautam Adani.
The former Chief Minister of Bihar said this in response to questions from reporters here on Friday in the backdrop of allegations of bribery and fraud against the Adani Group in the US. Prasad, an old Congress ally and staunch opponent of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), said Rahul Gandhi is right.
Adani should be arrested. The RJD president, who incidentally has been convicted in several fodder scam cases and is on bail. Reporters also asked him about the prospects of the opposition India alliance in Jharkhand.
Responding to questions from reporters, he said, I would like to focus on my statement that Adani should be arrested. I am not too worried about the new government in Jharkhand, where we are already in power.
In Jharkhand, there is a direct contest between the India Alliance and the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which includes the Janata Dal (United) led by Nitish Kumar, the arch rival of Lalu Prasad and the current Chief Minister of Bihar.
