The operation to save three-year-old girl Chetna, who had fallen into an open borewell in Rajasthan’s Kotputli, continued for the fourth day on Thursday, although with the passage of time, hopes of getting her out safely are fading. The rescue team is not able to send food or water to this girl. Ever since Chetna fell into the borewell, her grief-stricken mother has not eaten anything.
It is noteworthy that in Bhupendra Chaudhary’s farm in Kitarpura area of Sarund police station area of Kotputli district, his three-year-old daughter Chetna had fallen into the borewell at around 3 pm on Monday and efforts are on to bring her out safely. Initially the rescue team tried to pull out the girl with an iron ring tied to a rope, but all efforts failed.
Digging of pit parallel to borewell
Even after continuous efforts for two days, no result was achieved, so on Wednesday morning a piling machine was brought to the spot to dig a pit parallel to the borewell. Sarund police station officer Mohammad Imran said, “Now a horizontal tunnel will be made, through which experts will reach the girl.” Earlier in the day, the police station officer had said that the rescue operation was likely to end on Thursday. However, by the evening the rescue workers were frustrated as experts were unable to reach the parallel crater.
The girl’s mother Dholi Devi and others are continuously praying for Chetna’s safety amid the ongoing rescue operations by the teams of National Disaster Response Force NDRF and State Disaster Response Force SDRF with the help of local police and administration. The police station officer said that every possible effort was made to bring the girl out safely, but due to the borewell being narrow and the technology not being effective, all the efforts went in vain.
District Collector took stock of the rescue
He told that a team of doctors along with the ambulance is on the spot. District Collector Kalpana Aggarwal reached the village late on Wednesday night to take stock of the situation. He said that the rescue operation is continuing. A lot of preparations had to be done to reach the piling machine to the field.
Two weeks ago, a five-year-old child had fallen into a borewell in Dausa district of the state. The relief and rescue operation went on for more than 55 hours to bring the child out safely. However, by the time he was taken out, he had lost the battle of life.
