Former President Ramnath Kovind on Friday paid tribute to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, saying that he had taken the reins of the economy as the Union Finance Minister at a time when the country was facing a crisis on the economic front. At an event in Kolkata, Kovind described Singh’s demise as a personal loss and said that Singh was the epitome of humility.
Kovind said, “He never uttered any objectionable, unparliamentary word.” The former President said that Singh gave a new direction to the economy and took the country to a turning point. “Manmohan Singh will be remembered as a modern creator and reformer,” Kovind said.
He described Singh as a fusion of ‘science and spirituality’ in which the values and values of India were deeply ingrained. Singh, who brought economic revolution in India, died on Thursday at AIIMS, New Delhi. He was 92 years old. Singh was the Prime Minister of the country from 2004 to 2014.
