The festival of Navratri is being celebrated with great pomp in India. Ravana will be killed i.e. burnt on the day of Vijayadashami in different parts of the country. But do you know that there is a temple in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, where Ravana will be worshiped on the occasion of Vijayadashami. Actually, this temple is Char Dham temple located in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. Ravana will be worshiped here on the day of Vijayadashami. This tradition of worship has been going on for a long time.
Where is the temple?
Char Dham temple is located at Rani Katra in the old city area of Chowk in Lucknow. According to the temple priest Siyaram Awasthi, Ravana’s court is established in the temple built about 135 years ago. This temple was built by Kundan Lal Kunj Bihari Lal and now his sixth generation is looking after this temple. There are four Dhams in this temple and it is also famous by the name of Chhoti Kashi. People visiting the temple also go to the court where Ravana is worshiped on Vijayadashami.
Why is Ravana worshipped?
According to experts, the purpose of worshiping Ravana on the day of Vijayadashami in Char Dham temple is to learn a lesson from his wisdom and keep people away from evils. According to the priest of the temple, this puja is also to make people realize what is good and what is bad for them and what kind of deeds they want to do in their life which can take them to hell or heaven.
From Shri Ram in the temple to Ram Setu and Lanka
The entire court of Ravana is present in the Chardham temple of Lucknow, the capital of UP. In this court, Ravana’s ministers are seen on both sides and Ravana is seated at the top. Rameshwaram, Ram Setu and Lanka have also been constructed in the temple. In the court, Kumbhakaran is lying near Ravana and Meghnath is sitting. Meanwhile, Vibhishan is standing there. At the same time, Shri Ram is standing with a bow and arrow and his army is also present there. (input language)
