In the case of the death of robbery accused Kamlesh Tiwari, who was injured in the encounter on October 22, during treatment in the hospital, the family members have accused the jail administration of negligence in the treatment. Family members say that due to the timely operation of Kamlesh, who was injured by a bullet in his leg, the infection spread in his body, due to which he died. According to sources, the postmortem report states that he died due to septicemia.
Rumi Tiwari, wife of Kamlesh, resident of Thakurganj Daulatganj, Lucknow, said that on October 22, at around 12 noon, policemen had taken her husband away from home. After this, the policemen kept taking Kamlesh around on a four-wheeler in Dubagga area throughout the day. At around 8.30 pm, Jankipuram police shot Kamlesh near Bhitauli turn during the encounter. Kamlesh was injured by a bullet in his left leg, he was admitted to the Trauma Center of KGMU late in the night. The next day, Kamlesh appeared before the magistrate through video call. Then the policemen took Kamlesh to Lucknow jail, where after being examined, he was admitted to the trauma center.

According to Kamlesh’s wife, her husband Kamlesh’s operation could not be done due to lack of money. This caused infection in the wound on his leg. It is alleged that when asked the reason for the delay in the operation, the jail personnel engaged in Kamlesh’s security said that the money for the treatment had not been cleared by the jail administration. The victim says that due to the delay in the operation, pus formed in the wound on Kamlesh’s leg. When his condition worsened, Kamlesh was hurriedly operated on November 3, after which Kamlesh was taken to the Limb Center to get an iron rod inserted in his leg. Got admitted. Late night of 14th November, Kamlesh started vomiting blood. When his condition worsened, he was again referred to the Trauma Center. Kamlesh’s condition continued to deteriorate due to the vomiting of blood not stopping. Kamlesh died at seven o’clock on Friday morning. According to sources, the postmortem report confirmed Kamlesh’s death due to septicemia. Wife Rumi told that Kamlesh used to drive an e-rickshaw. Father-in-law Shiv Kumar Tiwari died one and a half years ago due to respiratory disease. The elderly mother-in-law lives at home. Due to financial constraints, the only daughter Khushboo does not go to school. The victim says that after Kamlesh’s death, her entire family was devastated.
In this regard, Kamlesh’s mother Phoolmati told that on the night of October 22, she had received information through electronic channel that Kamlesh was shot, while the policemen had taken Kamlesh along on the pretext of interrogating him. When Kamlesh died on Friday, the police hurriedly got the body post-mortem done. While the postmortem was taking place, the police made preparations for the last rites of the body at Gulala Ghat. The body was not allowed to be brought home. Contrary to Hindu customs, Kamlesh’s body was cremated after sunset. 5 year old daughter Khushboo cremated her father’s dead body. Mother Phoolmati told that she had gone to the trauma center to inquire about the well being of her injured son. According to the victim, Kamlesh told them that on the night of October 22, she was thrown from a four-wheeler and the policemen kept a chain in her pant pocket. On seeing the police officer in front, Kamlesh shouted Jai Hind, immediately after which the police shot him in the leg. Then Kamlesh was given a pistol.
Orthopedic surgeon Professor Narendra Kushwaha of KGMU Limb Center says that in case of septicemia, the patient should be operated immediately. If the operation is delayed, the infection spreads to other parts of the body. This may result in his death. Such patients need immediate treatment. Lucknow District Jail Superintendent Brijendra Singh said that Kamlesh was given timely treatment by the jail administration. Between November 8 and 11, medicines worth more than Rs 36 thousand were purchased on the advice of doctors.
