The Mumbai Police Traffic Control Unit on Monday received a message from a man who claimed to be gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother, threatening to kill Salman Khan if he did not fulfill some of his demands.
The message read, “If Salman Khan wants to stay alive, he should go to our (Bishnoi community) temple and apologize or give Rs 5 crore. If he does not do this, we will kill him; our gang Still active.”
Sources said police are investigating the source of the threatening message and security measures have been beefed up for Salman Khan. Police are also investigating whether the message is linked to Lawrence Bishnoi, who is in jail on various charges including attempt to murder and extortion.
News agency ANI quoted Mumbai Police as saying, “The process of registering a case is underway at Worli Police Station regarding the threat received by actor Salman Khan. The number from which the message has come is being traced.”
