Kota (Rajasthan), December 18 – A local court has sentenced a 40-year-old convict to 20 years imprisonment in a 2016 case of kidnapping and raping a minor girl. The Pocso court on Thursday convicted the person. He has also been fined Rs 30,000.
Special Public Prosecutor Suresh Verma of Kota special Pocso court number five said that Mahavir, a resident of Sultanpur, abducted and raped a 16-year-old minor in April 2016.
On April 20, 2016, the child father lodged her missing at Sultanpur police station. According to the complaint, the teenager was missing from the house on the night of April 18, 2016 and Mahavir was suspected of kidnapping.
Verma said that the police registered a case in this regard and started investigation. Three months later, the accused Mahavir was arrested from Indore city of Madhya Pradesh. The girl, who was held in a rented house for three months, was also recovered.
