More severe cold is about to happen
Amidst the storm of cold, now the latest update has come out from the Meteorological Department. According to the Meteorological Department, a new western disturbance may affect the Himalayan region on December 18, due to which there may be severe cold in UP in the next few days. At the same time, according to the forecast of IMD, moderate and shallow fog may be seen in some parts of UP on Wednesday in the morning or late night. However, at present no alert has been issued by the Meteorological Department regarding dense fog or cold wave.
Temperature will go to minus in many cities of Rajasthan
The temperature has dropped significantly in Rajasthan. The minimum temperature was recorded below 5 degrees Celsius in 16 cities. The maximum temperature dropped to 4 degrees Celsius in Sikar and Jhunjhunu. Meteorologists predict that the cold will increase further in the next three days.
Orange alert of cold wave for the first time in the season
For the first time this season, an orange alert of cold wave has been issued by the Meteorological Department. The temperature in many cities including Fatehpur (Sikar) may go below zero or even below. The mercury also dropped below zero in Fatehpur near Sikar on Tuesday. Snow accumulated in the areas around Sikar and Churu also. The lowest temperatures of the season were recorded in Bhilwara, Banasthali, Alwar, Karauli, Churu, Sriganganagar and Jalore. Dew settled on the grass in the plains of Mount Abu and the temperature dropped below five degrees.
How is the weather condition in Maharashtra?
Many parts of Maharashtra are in the grip of cold wave and the minimum temperature has dropped to single digits at many places in the state. The minimum temperature in Pune’s Baramati was 7.8 degrees Celsius, while Pune and Nashik districts recorded eight degrees Celsius. The mercury dropped to 8.3 degrees Celsius in Jalgaon while the minimum temperatures in Parbhani, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Dharashiv were recorded at 9.4, 10 and 10.2 degrees Celsius respectively. Malegaon in Nashik district recorded a minimum temperature of 9.8 degrees Celsius. Santa Cruz Observatory in state capital Mumbai recorded a minimum temperature of 15 degrees Celsius while Colaba recorded 20 degrees Celsius.
People are falling ill due to cold in Himachal
The effect of snowfall in the hilly areas is now visible in the plains as well. The decline in temperature will continue in the coming days also. If we talk about Srinagar and Himachal Pradesh, it is extremely cold these days. The continuous decline in temperature continues. People’s problems are increasing in Kullu, Himachal. People are falling sick from the cold. At the same time, the temperature in Jammu and Kashmir has reached below the freezing point. A layer of snow was seen at many places in Srinagar.
Snowfall in higher areas of the valley on 21-22 December

The minimum temperature in tourist destination Gulmarg was recorded below minus four degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in Pahalgam was minus 6.8 degrees Celsius. Konibal Valley on the outskirts of Pampore city was the coldest place where the mercury dropped to minus 8.5 degrees Celsius. Qazigund, the gateway to Kashmir, recorded a minimum temperature of minus six degrees Celsius. The weather office has predicted mainly dry weather till December 26 and light snowfall in the higher reaches of the valley on the night of December 21-22. The minimum temperature is expected to drop further in the valley and cold wave is expected to prevail at many places during the next three days.
Rain alert in Jharkhand
The Meteorological Department said that there may be light rain in some parts of Jharkhand on December 20 and 21. The official said temperatures are below 10 degrees Celsius in most parts of the state, but there may be partial relief as the minimum temperature may rise by three to five degrees Celsius from Wednesday due to the cyclone. Ranchi Meteorological Center in-charge Abhishek Anand said that the minimum temperature is likely to increase by three to five degrees Celsius from Wednesday.
Minimum temperature less than 10 degrees Celsius in 13 cities of Odisha
Minimum temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius were recorded in 13 cities of Odisha. The Meteorological Department said on Tuesday that G Udayagiri in Kandhamal district was the coldest place in the state where the minimum temperature was 4.7 degrees Celsius. According to the weather department, the minimum temperature was recorded at 5.7 degrees Celsius in Rourkela and 7.2 degrees Celsius in Similiguda in Koraput district. The minimum temperature was recorded at 7.5 degrees Celsius in Phulbani, 8.6 degrees Celsius in Sundergarh, 8.9 degrees in Keonjhar, nine degrees in Angul, Bhawanipatna, Kirei, Chiplima and Nabarangpur and 9.5 degrees Celsius in Bhadrak. It was recorded at 13.6 degrees Celsius in Bhubaneswar and 12.5 degrees Celsius in Cuttack.
