Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday hit back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s looting allegation and said the statement was meant to mislead people to get votes and he was planning to file a case against it. Speaking to media persons after attending Kanakadasa Jayanti program in Bengaluru, CM Siddaramaiah said that PM Modi is lying. This is to mislead people to get votes. We will look into the legal aspects. We are planning to file a case against it.

Addressing a rally in Maharashtra earlier this month, PM Modi alleged that the Congress was “looting the people” in Karnataka and the money was allegedly being used for campaigning in Maharashtra. He had said that Congress lied in Karnataka and urged people to vote for them. He formed the government and could not fulfill his promises. Instead, they are running an extortion campaign in Karnataka. Scams are being exposed every day in Karnataka. This means that Congress is looting people in broad daylight. It is alleged that Congress is using the same money to contest elections in Maharashtra. If we want to save Maharashtra, we will have to keep Congress away.

Furthermore, he criticized Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy for not speaking in favor of the state on tax devolution. He asked whether HD Kumaraswamy gave any benefit to the poor? What moral authority does he have? The central government is not giving our due share. Did he ever speak for Karnataka in tax devolution? NABARD comes under the Union Finance Minister. I had also written a letter to the PM and the Union Finance Minister not to do this. Earlier on November 1, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had said that “injustice has been done” to the state over tax devolution, adding that the state contributes a lot in taxes but does not get its fair share in return.
