An incident of stone pelting on Mahabodhi Express has been reported in Prayagraj.

Prayagraj: There have been reports of unidentified people pelting stones on the Mahabodhi Express in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. According to reports, at the time of the incident, the Mahabodhi Express was going from New Delhi to Gaya in Bihar. As soon as the stone pelting started, there was chaos in the train. It is being told that many passengers have also been injured in the stone pelting. This incident of stone pelting took place near the Yamuna Bridge on Monday night and many stones were thrown targeting the bogies. According to reports, on the information of the RPF, the train was stopped at Mirzapur station and the injured were treated and a case was registered against unknown people.

Railways said, no one was injured

At the same time, the railway said that maintenance staff CT Ravikesh Yadav of Mahabodhi Express informed that when the said train was entering Mirzapur station at 19/21 hrs, some person threw a stone on the guard brake from the south side and no one was injured. Guard Mustaq Ahmed of train number 12397 Mahabodhi Express, mobile number 9794 84 1460, informed through control room that an unknown person threw a stone from the south side which hit the guard brake and no one was injured.

There was also an incident of stone pelting in Chhattisgarh

Let us tell you that earlier recently, there was an incident of stone pelting on the Durg-Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express train during a ‘trial run’ in Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh. The Railway Protection Force had then arrested 5 people on charges of stone pelting on the train. Railway Protection Force (Mahasamund) Inspector Praveen Singh Dhakad said that the incident took place near Bagbahara railway station at around 9 pm on September 13, when the train was returning from Visakhapatnam to Durg during a ‘trial run’. Dhakad said that the train left from Durg for the ‘trial run’ and reached Mahasamund passing through Raipur.

5 people were arrested

Dhakad had said that on the way back, some anti-social elements threw stones at the moving train near Bagbahara, due to which the glass panes of the windows of 3 coaches C2, C4 and C9 got damaged. The officer said that the train security team travelling in the train informed about the incident, after which a team of security personnel was sent to the spot. He said that Shiv Kumar Baghel, Devendra Chandrakar, Jeetu Tandi, Lekhraj Sonwani and Arjun Yadav, residents of Bagbahara, were arrested in this case. The officer said that a case was registered against all the five miscreants under section 153 of the Railway Act 1989. (Report: Anamika Gaur)
