'...then Pakistan would not have been Lahore but till Lucknow', created uproar over the statement of former MP Mohammad Adeeb

Mohammad Adeeb, former Rajya Sabha MP.

Former Rajya Sabha MP Mohammad Adeeb has given such a statement which has started an uproar. Actually, a gathering of Muslim intellectuals was sitting in the country’s capital Delhi. Many scholars and fazils were sitting in it. Great Maulana Ikram was attending. Sadar of All India Muslim Personal Law Board and other officials were present. The Majlis was against the Waqf Amendment Bill. There were discussions taking place here and fear was being expressed that the properties of Muslims would be snatched away due to the Waqf Bill. In the same speech, former Rajya Sabha MP Mohammad Adeeb cited history. Mohammad Adeeb said that it is the favor of Muslims that the border of Pakistan remained till Lahore, otherwise it would have been Lucknow. Now an uproar has started over his statement.

Many leaders were present on the stage

Where this thing was being said in the country’s capital Delhi, General Secretary Fazlurrahim Mujadidi was also present on the stage at the conference along with All India Muslim Personal Law Board President Khalid Saifullah Rahmani. Hazrat Maulana Abu Talib Rahmani, Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Imran Pratapgarhi. Amrain Mahfooz Rahmani, Samajwadi Party leader and Rampur MP Maulana Mohibullah Nadvi and Rajya Sabha MP from Karnataka Syed Naseer Hussain were present. But no one raised any objection to this statement. Not only this, in the same speech BJP was targeted without taking the name of Babri Masjid.

Inciting statements also made in the meeting

JPC is currently deliberating on the Waqf Amendment Bill. It is yet to be brought to the House. But even before that, an atmosphere is being created to scare Muslims. In the meeting, Maulana Umrain Mahfooz Rahmani gave a provocative statement and said that laying hands on the mosque is an invitation to revenge.

Why did Maulana get angry?

Muslim Personal Law Board has opposed the bill in JPC. Many political parties are also opposing it. But committee chairman Jagdambika Pal is going to the ground along with the meetings and talking to the people who are affected by this bill. This step has further enraged the Maulanas.
