According to the history of this seat, Congress was dominant here for the first three decades. But the Indian Congress (Socialist), which broke away from the Congress in 1978, won in 1985. After the 1990 elections, Shiv Sena dominated Gangapur. But in 2009 Prashant Bamba stopped Shiv Sena’s victory chariot by winning the election as an independent candidate. Since then, Prashant Bomb has maintained his dominance here.
