Thieves steal Goddess Durga jewelery worth more than Rs 10 lakh in Jajpur, Odisha

Thieves stole gold and silver jewelery worth around Rs 10 lakh from a Durga Puja pandal in Odisha’s Jajpur district. Police gave this information on Saturday. Police said that this incident happened in the early hours of Saturday in Barundei temple of Korei police station area.

According to the police, when the priest and puja committee members reached the temple around 3 am, they found that the jewelery was missing and the main gate of the temple was open. According to the complaint lodged at Korei police station, the theft took place around 2 am on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.

According to the complaint, the thieves have stolen gold and silver jewelery like crown, necklace, trident, earrings of Goddess Durga and other deities. The police have started investigation regarding this incident and the rituals have been stopped for the time being following the theft.
