The Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) between Delhi and Meerut is likely to begin operations from the national capital in January 2025. Right now it is partially open. Currently, only 42 km of the 82 km RRTS corridor is open in Uttar Pradesh. However, officials said the first phase of trials up to New Ashok Nagar station in Delhi is almost complete and the NCRTC is ready to start the process of applying for certification from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS). NCRTC spokesperson Puneet Vats said the trial run of NaMo Bharat trains is underway between Sahibabad and New Ashok Nagar and the team is working towards operationalizing this section by the new year to create a seamless integration between the RRTS stations. The Minister rode the route on the occasion of completion of one year of NaMo Bharat operations and visited major stations of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor, which served more than 40 lakh passengers.
