Eight Bangladeshi nationals who had entered India illegally were arrested from a railway station in Tripura while on their way to Hyderabad. A police officer gave this information.
After noticing suspicious activity in front of the ticket counter at Teliamura railway station in Khowai district, a joint team of Border Security Force (BSF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) detained four men and four women for questioning, he said.
Teliamura GRP officer-in-charge Gautam Debbarma said, “During interrogation it was revealed that they were going to Hyderabad in search of livelihood. Since they had entered Indian territory illegally, they were immediately arrested.”
He said that the accused were produced in the local court to take them on remand. Debbarma said the arrested men told police that they had crossed the international border at Karbuk in Gomti district on Thursday and had spent the night in the forest. “They reached the station early in the morning in two vehicles,” he said. The matter is being investigated.
