Noida Police has arrested two people for robbing a scientist after befriending him through a gay app. An official gave this information on Thursday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone II) Shakti Mohan Awasthi said that the accused have been identified as Rahul Sharma and Himanshu alias Barfi. He told that one of his associates is still absconding.
The scientist, a resident of a society in Bisrakh police station area, had lodged a complaint on October 15 that he befriended some people through gay app ‘Grinder’ after which they called him to meet.
The complaint said that when he reached the said place, Rahul, Himanshu and another of their companions had reached there in a car. It is said that the accused made her sit in the car and after some time they beat her up and looted her gold chain, ring and cash.
Alleged that the accused also withdrew money from his account through ATM card. Deputy Commissioner of Police said that after arresting two accused in this case, looted gold chain, ring, Rs 47 thousand, country made pistol, cartridges and the car used in the crime have been recovered from them. He said that the criminal records of the arrested accused are being scrutinized.
