A letter petition has been filed in the Allahabad High Court demanding a CBI investigation into the recent suicide of a class nine student of a private school in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
The student had alleged in her suicide note that the school administration was responsible for her action. The student had demanded the closure of that school. Allahabad High Court advocate Gaurav Dwivedi has also demanded suspension of the Principal of St. Mary’s School in the petition.
Also, the court has been requested to direct the District Magistrate of Prayagraj to file a personal affidavit regarding the steps taken by private educational institutions to stop the harassment of children.
The petition has also sought direction from the court to the state government to issue a circular regarding appointing psychological counselors in every school and college.
According to the petitioner, on October 28, 2024, a news was published in a newspaper regarding the suicide of a Class 9 student of St. Mary’s School, Prayagraj, in which the student had held the school responsible for this step in her suicide note.
