As the nation pays tribute to the brave men who fought against the Chinese invasion in October 1962, the historic IAF-UWM Vayu Veer Champ Car Rally has reached Dirang in Arunachal Pradesh with a smile of glorious success on the face of every driver. The rally has traveled 6500 km to reach Tawang, where Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will receive the air and army warriors and flag off the rally in the presence of the state CM and Deputy Chief Minister on October 30.

The entire IAF UWM team, comprising senior IAF and Army officers (two of them being Everest summiteers), visited Jaswant Garh (formerly Nooranang battle area) to pay homage to the great rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat of 4 Garhwal. Will visit to pay tribute to Jaswant Singh Rawat, the great rifleman of 4 Garhwal who fought China in October 1962 and created history, was awarded Mahavir Chakra and has the good fortune of still being alive today. The army officially keeps his uniform, grants his leave and even builds a temple in his honour.

The rally is being welcomed and honored at the world famous Tawang Buddhist Monastery. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will flag off the IAF UWM car rally at ALG grounds in Tawang on October 30 at 4 pm. He will also inaugurate a wonderful museum in honor of Major Ralengnao Bob Khathing, the protector of Tawang in 1962. Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lieutenant General Kaivalya Trivikram Paranayak, PVSM, UYSM, YSM (Retd), Arunachal CM Shri Pema Khandu, Arunachal Deputy Chief Minister Shri Chauna Mein and Manipur CM Shri Birendra Singh are expected to attend the function.
