The health of veteran BJP leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani has deteriorated. On Saturday, he was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Delhi. Advani is being treated under the supervision of Dr. Vineet Suri, Senior Consultant, Neurology Department.

Lal Krishna Advani is 97 years old. He has been admitted to the hospital for about the fourth time in the last 4-5 months. According to reports, the former Deputy Prime Minister is under the observation of doctors. His health remains stable.

Advani is facing health related problems

Advani is repeatedly facing health related problems. This year he has been admitted to the hospital several times. He was admitted to Apollo just days after he was discharged from Delhi AIIMS in July.

Deputy Prime Minister in Vajpayee’s government

Advani served as Deputy Prime Minister in the government of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee from 2002 to 2004. After the dissolution of the Janata Party in 1980, Advani along with Atal Bihari Vajpayee founded the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Together they played an important role in shaping the ideology of the party and increasing its influence across India.

Led the Rath Yatra in 1990

The milestone in Advani’s political career was his leadership of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. His 1990 Rath Yatra advocating the construction of a Ram temple at the disputed Babri Masjid site in Ayodhya stirred Hindu nationalist sentiments and established him as a prominent mass leader.
