Wanted criminals caught after encounters in Lucknow and Bahraich

Police arrested four robbers after an encounter on Thursday morning in Gomti Nagar area of ​​Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. During the encounter, two robbers Aman Singh and Veer Yadav were shot in their legs. The other two arrested include Karan Singh and a teenager.

According to a statement issued by the police, illegal weapons, looted cash, jewelery and a stolen car were recovered from the miscreants. This police action was related to two separate robbery incidents that took place on December 22, 2024.

According to the statement, the action started after receiving information about the whereabouts of the criminals. Based on information, police tried to stop a vehicle near Neeraj Chowk in Gomti Nagar. However, the suspects in the car opened fire on the police team, following which the police retaliated.

According to the statement, two robbers suffered leg injuries in the firing. He was admitted to the hospital. The remaining two miscreants, Karan and a teenager, tried to escape but were caught after the area was cordoned off.

In another incident, Krishna Nagar police arrested Mohammed Shamim and Yogesh Yadav. He has been involved in criminal activities in the past also. On the night of 25th December, Shamim fired at the police team, as a result of which he got injured due to police retaliatory action.

Meanwhile, a wanted criminal was injured in an encounter with police in Bahraich district on Wednesday night. A man who stole jewelery from a shop in Gajadharpur market was arrested along with another suspect while his third accomplice managed to escape.

Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Ramanand Prasad Kushwaha said that this incident of theft took place on November 4 last, in which jewelery worth lakhs of rupees was stolen. On Wednesday night, police received information that suspected criminals were heading towards Wazirganj market. The police team along with the Special Operations Group (SOG) attempted to stop a motorcycle carrying three persons.

Kushwaha said that one of the miscreants opened fire on the police team. In retaliation, the police bullet hit the leg of a criminal named Aslam. He has been caught. His associate Abrar has also been arrested. The third criminal Abdul Aziz fled from the spot. He told that the injured criminal Aslam has been admitted to Bahraich Medical College. Police are currently searching for absconding Aziz.
