The BJP MP said that we are giving everyone an opportunity to express their opinion. Each of these 25 meetings typically lasted 9–10 hours. The JPC will be able to meet the deadline for submitting its report. However, many opposition MPs have been blaming Jagdambika Pal. Opposition members on Monday accused Jagadambika Pal of taking ‘unilateral’ decisions and ‘demolishing’ the entire process and hinted at distancing themselves from the committee. According to a source, opposition leaders hoped Birla would take steps to reduce the frequency of committee meetings to allow members to prepare for the meetings and study the presentations given. A member said that the committee may now hold one or two meetings in a fortnight. After the meeting, opposition members said that the Lok Sabha Speaker listened to them patiently and assured them of taking a decision as soon as possible.
