The decision came after a high-level meeting involving senior officials of the Revenue Department, Minority Welfare Department and Waqf Board, which highlighted the administration’s commitment to protect the rights of farmers.

To reduce tension among farmers, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has directed officials to immediately withdraw all notices related to Waqf land issues. The decision came after a high-level meeting involving senior officials of the Revenue Department, Minority Welfare Department and Waqf Board, which highlighted the administration’s commitment to protect the rights of farmers.

The Chief Minister expressed his dissatisfaction over the recent actions of some officials, suggesting that both the JD(S) and the BJP were exploiting the Waqf issue for political purposes, potentially threatening the peace of the state. Siddaramaiah urged the public to ignore any misinformation related to the case and called on authorities to approach the issue with sensitivity.

Major decisions of the meeting included that all notices sent to farmers regarding land records related to Waqf properties should be withdrawn without any delay. Officials were directed to ensure that farmers do not face any hassles with respect to their land and any unauthorized changes made in land records (pahani) without proper notice or legal process should be immediately reversed. Key officials including Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister HK Patil, Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, Chief Secretary Rajendra Kataria and Waqf Board CEO Jilani were present in the meeting.
