Thiruvananthapuram: Once again an alert has been issued in the state regarding rain and landslides. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for three districts of Kerala. Along with this, people of these three districts have been warned to stay in safe places and not go out. Apart from this, the Meteorological Department has also advised fishermen not to go near the sea. According to the Meteorological Department, there are chances of storm and strong winds in Kerala. During this period, heavy rainfall ranging from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm may occur in 24 hours.

Alert for three districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an ‘Orange Alert’ for three districts of Kerala on Sunday. IMD has issued an orange alert and warned people about heavy rains here. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be alternating rains in three districts of Kerala. Issuance of orange alert here means that these three districts may receive heavy rainfall ranging from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm within 24 hours. According to the new information released by the Meteorological Department, the three districts of Kerala for which an alert has been issued include Idukki, Malappuram and Wayanad. Heavy rain has been predicted in isolated areas of these three districts.

Wayanad district administration advised

In view of the possibility of heavy rain in these districts of Kerala, the Wayanad district administration has also advised people to be cautious. Wayanad District Administration has instructed people living in landslide prone areas to be extra cautious. An official statement said that the district administration has urged people to contact the concerned authorities if heavy rain situation arises at any place. Apart from this, IMD said that fishermen have been advised not to go into the sea off the Kerala-Lakshadweep coast till October 10. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of storm with thunder and strong winds in Kerala. (input- agency)
