Haridas, the BJP candidate in the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election, alleged that people were brought there on the pretext of shooting or taking them on a tour of tourist places in Wayanad and that is why a huge crowd gathered in the road show.

Navya Haridas, BJP candidate from Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election, filed her nomination along with other BJP leaders. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is contesting elections from Wayanad. This seat has been vacated by Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Haridas, the BJP candidate in the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election, alleged that people were brought there on the pretext of shooting or taking them on a tour of tourist places in Wayanad and that is why a huge crowd gathered in the road show.

He further said that Priyanka’s arrival and road show was like a seasonal festival which comes only once every year. But, people will understand it, said the BJP candidate, who filed her nomination papers on Thursday. Haridas also took aim at Priyanka, who filed her nomination on Wednesday, saying the Congress general secretary is a big candidate only on the basis of her prominent political family background.

However, a corporation councilor like me is a person who has years of experience in working with people and has come forward by working at the grassroots level. He said that if family clout is the yardstick of a candidate’s greatness, then only she (Priyanka) can make such a claim. BJP has no such parameters and I cannot claim to have any such clout. Haridas said that when she files her nomination, she will be accompanied by former BJP state president and former Mizoram Governor Kummanam Rajasekharan and other senior party leaders.
