Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a three-nation visit from November 16 to 21, including Nigeria, Brazil and Guyana, to strengthen bilateral and multilateral ties. This tour will prove to be a historical milestone. PM Modi will become the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Nigeria in 17 years and the first to pay a state visit to Guyana since 1968. At the invitation of Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, PM Modi will visit Nigeria from November 16-17 and engage in high-level talks to take forward the strategic partnership established in 2007 between the two countries. Apart from discussing expanded cooperation in the fields of economy, energy and defence, PM Modi is also expected to meet the Indian community in Nigeria.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) highlighted that India has invested over US$27 billion in Nigeria through over 200 Indian companies, reflecting a strong economic and developmental partnership. After his Nigeria visit, PM Modi will attend the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from November 18-19, which will be hosted by Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. India, which is currently part of the G20 troika along with Brazil and South Africa, will actively contribute to the agenda of this summit, building on India’s recent G20 presidency and the Voice of the Global South summit.

During the summit, the Prime Minister is expected to put forward India’s stance on key global issues, including sustainable development and economic stability, while engaging in bilateral discussions with various world leaders. PM Modi’s last stop will be Guyana, where he will pay a state visit from November 19-21 at the invitation of Guyana President Mohammed Irfan Ali.
