His social media activity had previously caught the attention of politicians, but Prashant has said that social media is an effective platform to connect with the public.

One such example is when he posted on Facebook asking people for help in cleaning a 14-acre pond and promised them a plate of Malabar Biryani as a reward. The call received an overwhelming response and the volunteers were later treated to a feast of biryani. The controversy started when an IAS officer lodged a complaint with the police that his personal WhatsApp number was hacked and used to create a religious group. He lodged a complaint with the Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner demanding an investigation into the matter.
