National Conference has emerged as the largest party in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. It has won 42 seats. At the same time, along with its allies Congress and CPI(M), it has easily reached the majority mark in the 95-member Assembly. Congress has won six seats and CPI(M) one seat.

A Congress leader said that the meeting of six newly elected MLAs of the party has started at the party headquarters located on MA Road here. He said that the leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) will be elected in the meeting. The newly elected Congress MLAs include party state president Tariq Hameed Karra, general secretary Ghulam Ahmed Mir, Nizamuddin Bhat, Pirzada Mohammad Sayeed, Irfan Hafeez Lone and Iftikar Ahmed.
