The lack of cohesion between the parties involved in the coalition government of Maharashtra has again come to the fore. Shiv Sena Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has taken a step which was strongly opposed by Shiv Sena’s ally Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar. Last month, the Maharashtra government had opposed the handing over of the Bhima Koregaon violence investigation to the National Investigation Agency. But now Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has approved it. However, NCP chief Sharad Pawar has termed this move of Maharashtra government as wrong.

Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar had alleged last month that the Center had submitted an inquiry into the Bhima-Koregaon violence case to the NIA for fear of being busted. Pawar had said that speaking against injustice is not Naxalism. He had said that “I think the government is afraid that his speeches will erupt.” Therefore, it has been decided to refer the case to the NIA. ”Pawar demanded a Special Investigation Team headed by a retired judge to conduct an inquiry into the Pune Police action against the workers in the Elgar Parishad case.

Last month, the Maharashtra government convened a review meeting on the matter following a question raised by NCP chief Sharad Pawar regarding the investigation of Bhima Koregaon case. After this, the Central Government handed over the investigation to the NIA. At that time, State Home Minister Anil Deshmukh had said that the move was wrong and said to go to court against it.

However, on behalf of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, approval has been given to hand over the investigation of Bhima Koregaon case to NIA. Sharad Pawar did not look happy with this step. After this step taken by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, now Home Minister Anil Deshmukh is saying that the final decision is taken by the Chief Minister. After getting different reactions from different people of the government, now the opposition has once again become an attacker on the state government.
