The end of the doctors’ strike was announced after the West Bengal Chief Secretary met the agitators. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was not present in this meeting. In the meeting, the doctors were told that several important steps have been taken regarding security, including duty rooms, CCTV, and deployment of women security personnel. Apart from this, mobile police teams will be deployed for surveillance at night in hospitals.
Even after the announcement, the doctors have said that this is a partial withdrawal of the agitation and the agitation has not ended. They have warned that if concrete steps are not taken on security issues, they will stop work again. The doctors demand that justice should be delivered as soon as possible in the case of murder and rape of the 31-year-old doctor.
