DCW notice to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Cyber) states that such messages were sent online after India lost the T20 World Cup match against Pakistan.

DCW President Swati Maliwal said, “It has been learned that Kohli is also being attacked as he spoke out against the constant trolling of his partner Mohammed Shami, who was targeted for his religion by online trolls. This is a very serious matter and demands immediate action.

Let us tell you that Mohammed Shami was targeted after India looses the match with Pakistan in the T20 World Cup match. For this, Virat Kohli, who came to the rescue of Mohammed Shami, had termed the troll as frustrated and spineless. He had said that they are people fighting in the field, not trolls’ entertainment. Virat had said that he is standing with Mohammed Shami. He had said, ‘Attacking one’s religion is the worst thing a human can do. Religion is a sacred and personal thing and no one should interfere in anyone’s religious affairs.’

After this reaction of Virat Kohli, trolls also wrote against Virat on Twitter. During this, Virat family members was targeted.

The Women Commission asked the Delhi Police to register an FIR, submit a copy thereof, identify and arrest the people who sent such messages. Maliwal has sought a detailed action taken report by November 6.
