If there is one thing that is being discussed the most in the cricket world at this time, then it is the ICC Champions Trophy tournament to be held in the beginning of the year 2025. Pakistan Cricket Board i.e. PCB has got the right to host this tournament after seven years, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India i.e. BCCI has given official information to ICC that Team India will not go to play Pakistan. After this, ICC has given a proposal to PCB to conduct the tournament on hybrid model but it is not ready for this too, hence ICC is also considering organizing this tournament in some other country, in which South Africa is at the forefront in the race. The name had come up for discussion but now it seems difficult to organize the tournament there too.
Due to this reason Champions Trophy cannot be held in South Africa
While the Pakistan Cricket Board has clearly refused the ICC to organize the Champions Trophy 2025 on the hybrid model, in this situation the only option left is to organize it somewhere else. South Africa was at the forefront in this race, but the third season of SA20 is to be played there in the beginning of the year 2025, the official schedule of which has been announced. The SA20 will begin on January 9 and the final will be played on February 8, with matches to be played in Centurion, Gkebarha, Durban, Paarl, Johannesburg and Cape Town. Even though the official schedule of the Champions Trophy has not been announced, it is expected to start from February 19. In such a situation, if a decision is taken to hold the tournament in Africa, then the pitches of these stadiums will be ready for the matches. Will not be properly prepared. Whereas the ICC makes preparations for its tournaments in advance regarding the pitch and stadium so that things can be prepared as per their standards, but in this situation nothing seems to be happening, due to which the tournament can also be held in South Africa. It is quite difficult to go.
There was no discussion even in the ICC meeting
ICC was to release the official schedule of the Champions Trophy on November 11, but it has been postponed after Team India’s refusal. This was also discussed in the ICC meeting held on November 12, in which according to PTI, many ideas regarding holding the tournament in South Africa have not yet been put forward. The ICC is trying to finalize everything officially soon.
