India are currently playing the third Test in Brisbane and the fourth Test will begin in Melbourne on December 26.
Shami, who last played for India in the 2023 ODI World Cup, had undergone ankle surgery in February this year. He then made a comeback in the Ranji Trophy in November and took seven wickets in the match against Madhya Pradesh. After this, he played all 9 matches for Bengal in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and took 11 wickets at an economy of 7.85. However, during this tournament he suffered some swelling in his knee, which hampered his preparation for Test cricket.
Tournament starts from 21st December

The team will start its campaign against Delhi on 21st December in Hyderabad. All the players will leave for Hyderabad from Kolkata on Wednesday. Vijay Hazare Trophy will be played from 21st December to 18th January. A total of 38 teams will participate in this List-A format tournament.
