Virat Kohli

Ricky Ponting On Virat Kohli: The first match of the five-Test series between India and Australia will be played in Perth on 22 November. For this, the squads of both the teams have been announced. The Indian team has won the last four Border-Gavaskar Trophies against Australia. But this time the path for Team India will not be easy. Superstar batsman Virat Kohli is out of form and has not been able to perform as per his name. Now former Australian batsman Ricky Ponting has supported Kohli.

Kohli is struggling with bad form

Virat Kohli could score only 93 runs in the last six Test innings. Team India had to pay the price of his poor form by losing the Test series against New Zealand. Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting told ICC that I have spoken about Virat before also. You can’t point fingers at great players. There is no doubt that he is a great cricketer. He likes playing against Australia. His record in Australia is also excellent. He can change everything in this series. I would not be surprised if Virat starts scoring runs from the very first match.

Ricky Ponting Ponting said that I read a statistic about Virat. It was said that in the last five years he scored only two Test centuries. This does not seem right but if it is then it is a matter of concern. There will be no top level international cricketer in the world who has scored only two Test centuries in five years. Regarding the defeat against New Zealand, he said that Indian batsmen have proved weak in playing spinners.

Out of top-10 in ICC test rankings

He said that it seems that now the modern Indian batsmen are not able to play spin the way the Indian batsmen used to play. Perhaps now Indian pitches are more helpful to fast bowlers. Virat has scored at an average of 22.72 in six Tests since the beginning of this year, which is his lowest average since his debut in 2011. He has also dropped out of the top 20 in the ICC Test rankings for the first time in ten years.
